Santa Fe Preparatory School graduated her in the year 1986. Her graduation from Northwestern University in 1990 with as a major in theater. Gunn took part in the British American Drama Academy for an entire semester beginning in the fall of 1988. She lived in a house with Pamela Adlon after moving to Laurel Canyon Los Angeles. Gunn was most well-known for her character Skyler in AMC's Breaking drama. The actress was nominated in 2013 and 2014 for the Primetime Emmy Award as Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama show for her portrayals. In August 2013 she published an opinion piece in The New York Times examining the public dislike directed toward her portrayal.
